Planned and Unplanned Purchases

I know, I posted earlier that I had way too much fabric and need to go on a shopping ban. and work from my stash. As you can see, I listen well. NOT! I have one order of solid basics to go, then I'm done for a while... Maybe. LOL!!!!!!

I was lured by impulse on this. Today I stopped by Pacific Fabrics in Everett. This fabric just sung meowed to me from the bolts,  "Make Hi Kitty big girl pillowcases for Gg" (My soon to be two year old granddaughter calls it Hi Kitty!).

That was an unplanned purchase. So this will get made up and shipped out with some easy reader books for Valentine's Day. After all, the Hi Kitty fabric has hearts on it! Love it! I also lucked out and picked up some old Deer Valley fabric that I will make pillowcases with for our guest room bed. I was very excited to see that! And I'll settle for one fabric pillowcases because I love it so much!

When I got home, I greeted at the door by a lovely package from Hancock's-Paducah. This was planned. I saw some items on sale to complete some stash items for future quilts. The top fat eighth bundle is Summersville by Moda. That will be paired with two charm packs of the same and some Bella solid snow to make a low volume quilt. The two blue and white fabrics will be paired with some Fat Quarters in the same line (Dear Stella's Heirloom). The black and white was from the Ghastlies. It was on sale as well and will go with my collection of black and white fabrics. I've been collecting black and white prints to experiment with monochromatics. Last but not least were some cuts from Dear Stella's yellow and grey lines (Maasai Mara and Lanikai) to go with a stack of FQs I'm using for a yellow, grey, white, and black quilt.

This purchase was carefully planned (and all was purchased on sale!).

Are most of your fabric purchases planned or unplanned?

I am over here laughing, I just tried to go on a fabric diet...didn't work either. Love your fabrics. Some are planned but most are not. Just looking yesterday at all of my scraps...this gal has got to stop buying fabric and start getting busy.

A good sale is something I have a hard time passing up if I have some cash on hand! I am trying not to shop any for a while(after the sales in Nov and Dec) and to use my stash. If I stay off fabric sites and out of stores I may just be able to pull it off!!!!
GG will lov her Valentines!!

I would like to say that I always have a plan, but sometimes I when I enter a fabric store I go off my nut and buy whatever is pretty!

Like Barb, my fabric diets generally go the way of all my other diets. Who are we kidding? I'm managed to cut down some, but I feel guilty because the shop owners are hurting in this economy. Instead I try to plan but what can I say? Plans don't necessarily work the way they're supposed to.

Both, for me, but more than likely unplanned. Those Hi Kitty pc's will be so very cute, and I'm sure GG will love them. Good call!
