Fiber and Fabric

Yesterday was a fun day in the city. I paid a surprise visit to a friend of one of my blog buds. I've been following Linda's blog since late summer after my other blog friend, Pat introduced us. It's kinda funny, but Pat lives on the east coast and she introduces me to someone living in my own backyard!

So meet my new friend Linda, of Fiber Fabrications. This woman's energy is amazing! I felt it right off the bat! Wow! She is a former alpaca farmer. She takes the alpaca wool, spins it into cuddly-soft yarn, then hand dyes it in her crockpot. As she says it's hoof to final product. All sustainable! And pretty, too! Makes me want to learn how to knit.

I wish you could feel the yarn. Seriously. It's soooo soft! I bought this scarf for a gift. Look at the fibers she uses in her pieces. Love the mix. This woman has awesome energy. I sensed it off the get-go.

And I had to come home with an adorable felted hat for me in lime green to go with my screaming red hair! It's way cuter on my head than on the distilled water bottle.

Then after I headed home I went to work on pillowcases. I'm still working on more. I want to bust some serious stash. And when I finish what I want I will have busted over ten yards of fabric! This set goes to a special grandbaby who turned two last week. It'll be part of a valentine's day happy pack.

Here's her two year old picture, snapped by her great auntie. Isn't she adorable times eleventy?

I also worked on a king-size case for the guest room. I lucked out and found some Deer Valley fabric on clearance. It goes with the bed runner I made a couple of years ago. I've been hoping to locate some to make some cases for the guest bed. Right now I'm in the process of making some standard cases for the bed, but this was the king case.

I love the embroidery on the band. This was the first time I used the Floriani thread I purchased from IHAN. Man that thread sews like butter!

I am really loving Izzy, my Brother Isodore (NV-5000). It stitches like a dream. While she's a tad noisier than my Horizon, Izzy is smooth! With this project I tested out a combined stitch. I took two stitches and programmed them to make this sweet embroidered pattern on the band.

Love the pillowcases, of course the Valentine's ones are my favorites. GG will love them, too, I bet. That embroidery is pretty neat, too. Fun projects!

Haha!! That's really cool! I introduced two bloggers who live in the same time in Utah. They go to lunch and have fun times together all the time now. Without me. LOL! I'm glad you had fun and met a new friend!! :)

The yarn looks so pretty! And I'm digging that felted hat. Good picks!

The little munchkin is growing so fast:)

Wow, great post! I love that scarf! I love the hat and I can see that you do indeed look much better in it then. The water jug does. I love the pillowcases! And that grand baby looks pretty good too!

That yarn is pretty! I would like some, too, and no, I don't knit. I've used yarn for two projects--doll hair and an art piece.

Your pillowcase will definitely eat into your stash and they are so pretty. Now I wish I had time to make some Valentines pillowcases for my grands. Alas, there are too many for the tiny bit of time I have. Enjoy Mardi Gras weekend,
Mary
